Forest history

Humans have been using the forest for thousands of years. Wood has always been irreplaceable as a fuel and as a building material. In the last 200 years in particular there has been a change in forestry management thanks to developments in technology and changing life styles. Such things as the use of tar, pig fattening in the forest or the collection of leaves for bedding are now a thing of the past.

The History of the Chainsaw

The first chainsaws were developed in the 1920’s. The development of the motorised saw led to an increase in timber production comparable to that which occurred when the non motorised saw took the place of the axe.
